Queen of England, Buhari and More for Ooni of Ife’s Coronation
It would be a day where the acient town of Ile Ife plays host as many dignitaries and leaders are expected to attend the December 7 installation and presentation of staff of office to the new Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Babatunde Ogunwusi, Ojaja II.
Amongst those expected to be in attendance at the coronation are President Muhammadu Buhari, the representative of the Queen of England, Queen Elizabeth II and Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo.
Prominent traditional rulers expected to attend the coronation are: Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, the Shehu of Borno, Alake of Egbaland and Awujale of Ijebuland, among others.
Also to attend are the 36 governors, members of the Federal Executive Council FEC , diplomats and captains of industries and many heads of missions in Nigeria.
Prince Adegboyega, the monarch’s elder brother, said invites have been sent to the dignitaries expected to attend.
He also announced : “There will be a coronation carnival round the town today. Tomorrow, there will be artistes’ coronation day.
“On Thursday, there will be traditional worshippers’ day. A Jumat service will hold on Friday. Also on that day, there will be a youth carnival and fashion parade.
“A football match between Ajiroba FC and Shooting Stars of Ibadan is scheduled for Saturday.
“On Sunday, there will be an interdenominational service at Enuwa Square and inauguration of Ife Resorts.
“The grand finale is on Monday with the presentation of staff of office.
“The programme will be rounded off on December 13 with a thanksgiving service at St. Saviour Anglican Church, Ayegbaju, Ile-Ife.”
