Zidane appointed Real Madrid Coach as Rafa Benitez Gets Sacked

zidane appointed Zinedine Zidane has been appointed as Interim Real Madrid coach by Club president Florentino Perez led board. Perez had called an emergency board meeting after the club failed to overcome Gary Neville’s Valencia last night in a 2-2 draw at the Mestalla.

Directors of the Spanish outfit have been discussing Benitez’s position and according to Marca, have decided to terminate his three-year contract early.

Rafa was appointed in June 2015, but after just six months will been relieved of his duties.

Benitez successfully guided Real through the group stages of the Champions League and are a mere four points behind league leaders Atletico Madrid.

Spanish newspaper Marca also claim Bernabeu icon Zinedine Zidane will be appointed interim manager until the end of the season.

Asked about his position after last night’s draw, Benitez tried to turn focus to the positive aspects of his side’s performance.

He said: “You are free to ask that question, but not well focused. For the effort we deserve more praise than anything else.

“I cannot prevent speculation about whether I continue, but I can make the team work as it has today. We were capable of getting the three points.”
