Wike Claims DSS threatened to Shoot him as DSS Storm Houses of Judges

Nigeria’s Secret Police,the Department of State Services (DSS) is believed to have been carrying out arrest of judges for unknown reasons, beginning on Friday.

The security agency had an early morning confrontation with the Rivers state governor, Mr Nyesom Wike over an attempt to arrest a judge in the state Capital.

According to Vanguard reports, Wike mobilised his security men to confront the operatives in the early hours of Saturday as they tried to arrest a judge at his residence on Forces Avenue in Port Harcourt, the state capital.

The governor told newsmen that he was manhandled by the DSS operatives when he resisted the attempt to whisk the judge away.

“What happened this night is unfortunate. Even in military government it has never happened like this, you listen to people. This is why we are here. I said not under my watch will I allow this type of activity take place.

“The DSS, Police they cocked their guns and said they will shoot me. And I told them I have never heard this type of thing happen before. Again this is to show that more of this will come,” Wike said.

Sahara Reporters also indicates the DSS had similarly stormed the homes of some judges in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja with a questionable approach.

The DSS operatives reportedly surrounded the homes of two federal high court judges, Justice Nnamdi Dimgba and Justice Adeniyi Ademola around 9pm on Friday.

Their Sources within the neighbourhood reportedly told SaharaReporters that the DSS agents began breaking into Justice Dimgba’s compound with a sledgehammer when they were refused entry.

The reasons for the DSS action are yet unknown but it is on record that Justice Dimgba had on July 22nd, 2016 berated the agency for not presenting Air Commodore Umar Mohammed to his court for a scheduled hearing.

Earlier on Friday, DSS agents also arrested Justice Muazu Pindiga, former Chairman of the Rivers State Governorship petition tribunal, for allegations of bribery and corruption.
