Super Eagles of Nigeria suffer Massive Drop in Fifa Rankings

super eaglesThe Super Eagles of Nigeria has dropped nine places to the 70th position in the latest Fifa Ranking for July, released on Thursday. This is Nigeria’s lowest ranking this year following inactivity from the National side.

The three-time African champions now find themselves ranked 16th in Africa while Fifa 2018 World Cup Russia qualifying opponents, Algeria, maintained their Number 1 spot in Africa with highest ranked nation on the continent in 32nd position.

The other Group B sides in the World Cup qualification campaign – Cameroon and Zambia – are ranked 53rd and 88th respectively. Ivory Coast, Ghana, Senegal and Egypt join Algeria on the top 5 sides on the continent.

South American side Argentina remain the top-ranked side in the world despite another Copa America heartbreak, while Euro 2016 flops Belgium, Colombia, world champions Germany and Copa America holders Chile complete the top five. Reigning European champions Portugal climb two places to 6th.
