Speaker Dogara Responds to former Appropriation Committee Chairman’s Tweets

Following Wednesday’s announcement, by Speaker Yakubu Dogara on the replacement of Abdulmumin Jibrin with Mustapha Bala Dawaki also from Kano State.

The Speaker said the Jibrin had asked to be removed from the committee. But reports were making the round that Jibrin had been involved in padding the budget with constituency projects worth N4 billion.

On Thursday, June 21, sacked chairman of the House of Representative Committee on Appropriations, Abdulmumini Jibrin dropped a tweetstorm which sought to clear the air after the controversy that followed his removal by Speaker, Yakubu Dogara.

Jibrin had initially denied that his removal had anything to do with the padding of the budget and that he willingly resigned from his position but yesterday he recanted his earlier stance dramatically.

He accused the Speaker of the House of Representative Yakubu Dogara of making him a scapegoat because he was not in support of the planned immunity for presiding members of the National Assembly (NASS), and his refusal to cover-up the allocation of N40bn out of the N100bn allocated to the NASS.

He then accused Dogara of misrepresentation of facts, falsehood, bias and mischief.

The Speaker while responding to the question posed by a Twitter user, mocked Jibrin and dared him to carry out his threat of making the heavens fall.
