Osinbajo speaks on Buhari’s Return, Conveys Protest Messages
Acting president, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, SAN on Monday afternoon spoke with ailing President Yemi Osinbajo on phone from the United Kingdom where he is presently receiving treatment.
In a video released by the Presidency, the acting president said he spoke with President Buhari on phone and conveyed the message of Monday’s nationwide #IStandWithNigeria protests on the state of the economy to the president.
“The president is hale and hearty. I spoke to him just this afternoon and we had a fairly long conversation. He was interested in the budget process and how far we had gone,” Osinbajo said.
The acting president stated that he and the president also discussed his (Osinbajo’s) meeting with private sector stakeholders who were at the Presidential Villa in Abuja to discuss efforts to improve the economy.

When asked about the president’s return to the country, Osinbajo referred to Buhari’s letter to the National Assembly in which the President requested an extension of his leave in order to take some medical tests.
“Once the test results are seen, he will receive medical advice. We should expect him very soon,” Osinbajo said.
