Osinbajo hold meeting with Service Chiefs and Niger Delta Governors

Nigeria’s Acting President, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo today was in a closed door meeting with the service chiefs and some governors from the Niger Delta region.

According to reports Nation, the key issues to be discussed are the renewed bombing of oil and power installations in the region, and the recent threat by some aggrieved militants to deploy missiles at targeted locations in Abuja, Lagos and Kaduna States.

Osinbajo, who last week visited the Niger Delta to flag-off the cleanup of Ogoniland following decades of oil spillage, is meeting with the major stakeholders at the Vice-President’s office wing of the Conference Hall in the State House.

Present at the meeting are governors of Bayelsa, Rivers, Delta, Ondo, Edo and Abia States, as well as the Minister of State, Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachikwu – who hails from the region – and the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Usani Uguru.

Osinbajo assumed leadership of the country on Monday after President Muhammad Buhari took a 10-day leave to the United Kingdom for medical reasons.
