NYSC Members Groan over Non payment of Allowance

The current economic situation in the Country is hitting members of the National Youth Service corp as serving corpers have groaned at the non-payment of their monthly allowance on Twitter hoping for a reprise.

The National Youth Service corp which started off as a laudable initiative to foster unity and integrate the Nigerian youth on a holistic scale has taken a new turn with a rise in the death of corp members deployed to various parts of the country and the ill-treatment of same by the government and sometimes host communities, this experience which was intended to be exciting has become a shadow of itself and a necessary evil which youths would rather avoid.

In a series of tweets which indicate that this non-payment is nation-wide, corp members are agitated and have called out the president Muhammadu Buhari-led administration on the corruption that exists within the system and its failure to carry out its duty in this regard. Some even made reference to President Jonathan stating that allowances during his tenure were paid between 25th and 26th of the month.

The Serving members are embittered due to no explanation has been offered from the quarters of the Director General of NYSC, Brigadier General Johnson Bamidele Olawumi as to the reason for the delay and have called for an investigation.
