Northern Christians Applaud Buhari’s Appoinments

A Forum of Northern Christians from the 19 Northern states on the aegis of Northern Christians Solidarity Forum (NCSF) have applauded President Muhammadu Buhari’s Government and specifically noted that the appointment of Engr. Babachir David Lawal from North-east as the Secretary to Government of the Federation (SGF), and the support so far received by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Lawal Dogara to stabilize the House has shown that the president is ready to unite the country.

A statement by the NCSF, whose aim is to strengthen the bond of unity among Christians and Muslims extraction of Northern Nigeria said it can confidently say that President Muhammadu Buhari mean well for the country.

The statement jointly signed by Rev. John Joseph Hayab, and Patriot Simon Dolly, Chairman and Secretary respectively of the Forum expressed gratitude to the members of the House of Representatives for electing, Dogara Yakubu, a minority from Bauchi State as Speaker.

“The emergence of Babachir as SGF and Mr. Dogara Yakubu is a clear signal that President Buhari meant well for Nigerians. President Buhari’s appointment of Babachir, clearly shows that the President is ready to fight corruption in the system.

“Babachir as SGF will further strengthen unity among Christian and their Muslim brothers in the region called north. We believe in the competency of Babachir, and there is no denying the fact that the new SGF will help Buhari transform Nigeria for good,” the Forum leaders said.

The Forum urged the Northern Christians to see their appointment as a call to service and should work hard to bring the desire change that Nigerians are yearning for, adding that by their appointments, President Buhari has proven to Nigerians that he is after competence and not religion, ethnic or regional sentiments.

“President Buhari has proven that he is a detribalize person. We are particularly happy with this appointment because it has the tendencies to unite the northern region. Those days of bickering between Christians and Muslims in the North are over and never again shall we live like cat and rat in the region again.
