No Chelsea Style for Super Eagles against Algeria Rohr Warns

With Nigeria’s Super Eagles game against Algeria only next week Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has warned that there won’t be sweeping changes to the side that defeated Zambia 2-1 last month in Ndola in the eagerly anticipated 2018 World Cup qualifying match between Nigeria and Algeria in Uyo.

The 633 year old tactician has declared that it will be a largely unchanged side despite the return of heavy-hitters Victor Moses, Odion Ighalo, Leon Balogun and Oghenekaro Etebo for the blockbuster clash.

According to a report by Guardian, the German-born football tactician has also ruled out playing in-form Victor Moses as a wing back in the game as the Eagles does not play ‘Chelsea style’.

Victor Moses, who missed Nigeria’s first World Cup 2018 qualifiers game against Zambia has been on inspired form for English Premier League side Chelsea this term, wrecking opponents with devastating runs down the flank from a deeper role.

Rohr has however ruled out such a tactical layout in the tie, saying: “We don’t play the Chelsea way against Algeria. We won’t play like Chelsea, so we might necessarily not need a wing back. On the flanks, we have Ahmed Musa, Moses Simon and Alex Iwobi, Victor Moses is part of them.

“The idea is to put out the best team with the best formation for the Algeria game. Although, we intend to maintain most of the players who started the game against Zambia. We will build from there.”

The Super Eagles of Nigeria currently tops group B on three points, two ahead of Algeria and Cameroon going into matchday 2.
