Jose Mourinho reveals where he wants to manage…and it’s not Manchester United

Axed Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho has reportedly told his agent that he’d love to manage England should Roy Hodgson leave next summer.

The Portuguese manager was sacked as Chelsea boss earlier this month following the Pensioners’ disastrous start to the season. Despite heading into the campaign as the reigning champions, the Blues lacked attacking fluency and defensive solidity and when Mourinho was dispatched, the club were mired in the bottom half of the table.

However, despite Mourinho’s recent struggles at Chelsea, the coach still has a glowing reputation in the game, having won a series of EPL titles, as well as Champions League crowns with FC Porto and Inter Milan, and various other European leagues.

The manager has been tipped with a move to Manchester United to replace Louis van Gaal should the Dutch coach—who is himself overseeing a miserable run at Old Trafford—be given the boot by the club’s hierarchy [Express].

However, the Red Devils may have to move quickly if they are to secure the future of the talented manager, with the Mirror reporting that Mourinho himself is eyeing the England job, and has informed Jorge Mendes that he’d love to replace Hodgson after the European Championships next summer.

While Hodgson has overseen a spotless qualifying campaign, England have played poorly at both of the major tournaments he has overseen, and the experienced manager would surely not survive another sub-par showing in France.
