Ifeanyi Okowa’s Convoy Kill Elderly Man in Delta

ifeanyi okowaThe convoy Governor Okowa of Delta State allegedly knocked down and killed an old man in Ukwuani, Delta state.

The accident happened as the governor and his convoy returned from Warri according to Sahara Reporters where a meeting of the Niger Delta Coastal States had been jointly convened by former Information Minister Edwin Clark and Mr. Okowa.

The accident took place in Umutu community, between 5 and 6pm.

The Press crew bus in the governor’s convoy is said to have rammed into an elderly man driving a pick-up truck. The unnamed elderly man was then rushed to a hospital in Abraka.

The deceased was then referred to a hospital in Asaba where he finally died due to shortage of blood and severe injuries. Meanwhile, journalists who were in the press bus survived, with injuries.

Several journalists and cameramen would have been dead by now but God saved them. So many of them were seriously injured and taken for treatment in government house clinic. 

“Youths in the community almost unleashed terror on the convoy but the presence of the governor and other top government officials salvaged the situation which could have turned bloody. Governor Okowa had to personally come down from his car to appease the people. The driver as I talk to you now is still being detained in Asaba by the police,” the source stated.

The source is also said to have disclosed that Mr. Okowa has concluded plans to send a government delegation to the family of the deceased to open a discussion on how to settle the matter for burial.

According to Sahara reporters, no formal report has been obtained form the governor’s office concerning this incident.
