Frank Ocean’s Boy Don’t Cry Album confirmed for July
If you are one of those expecting a Frank Ocean album, you might have a reason to shed tears of joy. That’s because the Grammy-winning singer’s sophomore LP, Boys Don’t Cry, could finally arrive this month.
Frank Ocean yet again teased the pending release date on his website, BoysDontCry.co, with an image of a library due date card. The first date on the card, marked July 2015, is scratched off, followed by a series of dates, and ending with July 2016.
To go along with this card, Ocean also republished a post from last year that suggested Boys Don’t Cry would be out in July 2015.
Boys Don’t Cry is the long-awaited follow-up to 2012’s critically-lauded channel ORANGE. The celebrated project earned Ocean a Grammy for Best Urban Contemporary Album.
In February, fans heard leaked audio of new music that was reportedly recorded at a secret listening session. In May, Chance the Rapper told Complex that Ocean was somewhere “very, very focused on his catalog” and “making a masterpiece.”
More confirmation that the album is definitely happening/on the way, came from a possibly unexpected source. Bay Area staple Iamsu!
Su hopped on twitter to reveal that he had a role in the creation of Ocean’s new album. Sharing some thoughts on the new album with fans, ‘Su wrote on twitter, “Damn frank ocean album blap!” He added, “He did not disappoint! thanks for letting me be apart of history bro! Worth the wait!”
