Mallam-Nasir-El-RufaiThe Governor of Kaduna state, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, has revealed that a former minister under the Goodluck Jonathan regime has attempted to return $250 million (roughly N50 billion) to the government of President Muhammadu Buhari  through him.

In a report titled: Nigeria President Escalates Campaign to Stem Corruption, El-Rufai claimed that associates of the former minister approached him with the offer.

The New York Times quoted the Governor as having claimed to have been approached by an unnamed former minister.

“When you say you want to refund, it means you are admitting that you took what was not yours. I said, ‘I am a governor, I am not involved in this. I will pass on your message.’ ”

“The corrupt try to take money under the table. Under Jonathan’s government, it is done so openly, with records.”

People actually document the diversion of funds. You just wonder, what is wrong with them.”
