FIFA President Gianni Infantino to Visit Nigeria
Gianni Infantino, Fifa’s President has confirmed a two-day working visit to Nigeria.
The former UEFA scribe confirmed the trip after a meeting over the weekend in Paris with the President of Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Amaju Pinnick.
Gianni Infantino is expected to arrive along with newly appointed Secretary General of Fifa, Ms Fatma Samoura in a fortnight.
“The FIFA President and Secretary General will arrive in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja on Sunday, 24th July on a two –day working visit to Nigeria,”Pinnick told thenff.com.
Infantino and Samoura will pay a courtesy call on President Muhammadu Buhari at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, after which they’ll parley with a legion of African football chiefs who are expected in Nigeria.
The duo will also meet with Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State, where they’ll attend an evening session with Corporate bodies before watching the finals of the NFF/ZENITH Bank Future Eagles Championship.
During the one–hour meeting involving Infantino, Samoura and Pinnick on Sunday, Nigeria’s Minister of Sports, Barrister Solomon Dalung spoke with the FIFA chief and expressed the country’s readiness for the visit.
The visit will be rounded off with a welcome dinner for the Fifa team and members of the diplomatic corps put together by the League Management Company (LMC).
