Buhari Sacks Martin Abeshi as Comptroller-General of Immigration
Martin Abeshi, Comptroller-General of Nigerian Immigration Service, will vacate office on the expiration of his tenure following an order from President Muhammadu Buhari.
According to reports from Daily Sun, Abeshi, who was appointed as successor to former Comptroller General, David Parradang following his role in the tragic 2014 Immigration recruitment saga, was not considered suitable to continue in office as his tenure had since lapsed.
Abeshi who hails from Nasarawa State has been mired in controversy during his time at the helm, with reports of widespread bribery and nepotism among the top brass of the service, and this may have influenced President Buhari’s decision.
Besides, it was also gathered that the Immigration CG was due for retirement since last December but allegedly lobbied his way back to the top job
His replacement is yet to be announced.
