Buhari has described the incident as sad and regrettable.

Mrs. Bridget Agbahime, a Pastor’s wife, was killed at the Kofar Wambai market on Thursday by an unruly mob after she was accused of blasphemy.

In a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media, Femi Adesina, President Buhari on Saturday, condoled with the husband of the deceased, Mr.Mike Agbahime, the family and relations, praying that God grants them the strength to bear the loss,Premium Times reports.

President Buhari assured that justice would be done in the matter as he praised the law enforcement agents for swiftly apprehending the prime suspects behind the killing, as well as the Kano State government for promptly arranging a meeting of Christian and Islamic leaders and security agencies in the wake of the ugly incident.

“The incident at Kofar Wambai market, Kano city, is utterly condemnable, and the state government has been quite proactive. Let us ensure that we keep the peace, as justice will be done. Let us learn to respect each other’s faith, so that we can know each other and live together in peace,” the President said.

Meanwhile, force Spokesperson, Kolawole Olabisi, said that the two key suspects – Dauda Ahmed and Subeiru Abubakar – were already in police custody awaiting prosecution.

“In order to ensure a diligent and professional investigation, the Inspector General of Police has directed the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in- charge of the Force Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (FCIID) to deploy the Homicide Section of the Department to immediately take over the investigation of the case and ensure a meticulous investigation and speedy prosecution of the arrested suspects,” Mrs Olabisi said.

She added that the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, has ordered the State Commissioner of Police to deploy men in strategic locations and consort with stakeholders and community leaders with a view to douse tensions and ensure people go about their normal activities.
