Breaking News: Nigeria U-20 team lose to USA in U-20 World cup

The Flying eagles of Nigeria fell to a 2 nil defeat at the hands of North Americans USA in the second match of Group D.

The match, played at the Stadio Bielsko-Biala saw Paul aigbogun’s charges fall to two goals from Sebastian Soto in the 18th and 48th minute.

The match got off to a flying start when striker Sebastian soto curled in a delightful strike after he latched onto a pass from Mendez. The flying eagles battled to come back in the game during the first half with intense pressing and shots at goal to no avail.

The element of surprise came into play as twenty nine seconds into the second half, the Americans doubled their lead. The goal came courtesy Sebastian soto who proved too hot to handle for Paul aigbogun’s charges.

Nigeria will now have to secure a win against Ukraine in their final group game of the competition.

The Ukrainians top group (D) with six points from two games while the flying eagles come in second with three points from two games albeit with a superior goal difference. The United states come in third with 3 points from two games and a goal difference of 1.

Tab Ramos’s boys will now look to advance into the round of sixteen with a win against whipping boys Qatar in the final group game on Thursday, while Nigeria will need a win and a high goal difference to move into the round of 16.

The flying eagles will face Ukraine on Thursday, 30th May 2019 by 7:30 pm Nigerian time
