radio biafra ipob members releaseThe Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) after breaking into factions, one of the factions of the group, the Biafran Independence Movement (BIM) has called on the underperforming governors in the South East to vacate their offices as they have lost focus.

BIM is in the news for pointing out that the governors were only good at building and establishing industries and constructing roads on TV, whereas these projects that cost billions of naira go to ruins few weeks after their highly publicized launching.

Punch writes that in a statement by the Biafra Zonal Information Director, Anselm Ogbonna, in Umuahia, the Abia State capital, the group insisted that the huge failures of the political class in the south east means they should immediately vacate their offices as they’ve lost all relevance, .

“l really mean my word, they should vacate their political offices now because they have lost focus. They have fed the citizens with the dividend of lies instead of dividend of democracy. Workers’ salaries are being paid over the radios and on the pages of newspapers; not in the offices,” the statement read.

“Pensioners who worked with their blood to uphold the integrity of Nigeria are neglected; the politicians abandoned their pension payment. This has resulted in their death on a daily basis. Youth empowerments to these leaders of tomorrow are tricycles and motorcycles on hire purchase. Behind them, they will give out contracts to their loyalists to hunt the Okada riders and Keke NAPEP operators who would pay a huge amount of money. This makes it difficult for them to be free from the Okada and Keke NAPEP hire purchases they have collected. In other words, they are slaves to this contract. They are slaves in order to find their daily bread.”

Ogbonna further alleged that politicians in the south east are complicit in the carnage being unleashed by rampaging Fulani herdsmen in their region.

“Majority of these politicians have tactically supported the grazing bill because they have cattle which these Fulani are raring for them. The worst of it all is that these Fulani are raping women of those communities at gunpoint. I want to tell them that if such continues in any of the communities in Igbo land, we must hold these politicians responsible,” he said.
