Atiku-Mutfwang Youth Campaign Council meets with Youths in Jos South LGA to canvass for support and votes for the candidates of the PDP 5/5

The Atiku-Mutfwang Youth Campaign Council has visited Jos South LGA to interface with various Youth groups within the LGA to canvass support for the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from the Presidential Candidate HE Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, to the Plateau State standard bearer Barrister Caleb Mutfwang, all National and State Assembly Candidates of the PDP.

Led by the Director General Atiku-Mutfwang Youth Campaign Council Hon Hitler Joshua Pwajok, the first point of call was a visit to the palace of the Gwom Rwei, Jos South, HRH Da Nga Dangyang to receive royal blessings before proceeding to the town hall meeting with the various Youth groups. It was a full house as majority of the members of the Jos South Traditional Council were present. The Royal father blessed the youths and charged them to conduct themselves peacefully and ensure that they go and and vote without violence.

The team then moved to the residence of the Former Governor of Plateau State, HE Senator Da Jonah David Jang in order to also seek his blessings. Senator Jang who was in good spirit took time to explain to the youths the journey of democracy in Plateau State, especially the formative days of the PDP – he particularly noted the role of first National Chairman of the PDP Late Chief Solomon D. Lar. He urged the youths not to relent in their desire to enthrone at better administration in Plateau State. He reminded them that the PDP has never lost Presidential elections in Plateau State and that is not about to change. He prayed for the success of the activities of the Atiku-Mutfwang Youth Campaign Council as they continue to canvass for support for the PDP at all levels among young people in Plateau State.

The team then move to the Layi Oyatokin Zawan Community Development Hall to interface with various Youth groups present. The event was graced by the Member Representing Jos South State Constituency and the Member Representing Jos East/Jos South Federal Constituency. Both lawmakers took time out to admonish participants to vote of the all the candidates of the PDP from HE Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Barrister Caleb Mutfwang for Governor of Plateau State, Hon Simon Mwadkon for Senator representing Plateau North, Hon Dachung Musa Bagos for Member Representing Jos East/Jos South Federal Constituency and Hon Fom Dalyop Gwottson as Member Representing Jos South State Constituency.

Questions and responses were taken from various groups such as Tricycle Riders Union, YOWICAN, Women and Students Representatives, as well as Non Natives and persons with special needs.

Tricycle Riders union applauded the PDP adminstration of Senator Jonah David Jang for introducing Tricycles in their hundreds which empowered alot of people. They also queried the fact that the current administration has not added to the previous efforts but has instead reviewed the time of operations for tricycles, by shortening the time for security concerns which was mainly prevalent in Jos North but Jos South has been added to the to the curfew. He urged that Jos South Tricycle Riders should not be given same treatment as Jos North. He asked for Jos South Tricycles to be given a separate color in order to separate Jos South Tricycles from Jos North.

The Women representative called for the inclusion of women not only during electioneering and elections, but also in the governance process.

The YOWICAN representative asked to know what the Governor to do for YOWICAN of elected into office. As the Chairman of the Niger Delta community in Jos South, he noted that the Niger Deltans resident in Jos South are not given due consideration after elections, despite the fact that they come out and support the party.

The Student representative expressed concern that the 2016 & 2017 Bursary allowances have not been paid, only 2018 bursary allowance was paid. He urged Barrister Caleb Mutfwang to remember students when he is elected Governor of Plateau State by God’s Grace.

He used the opportunity to raise concerns on Insecurity within and around tertiary institutions within Platea State, including cases of rape and robbery of students, siting the case of Plateau State University and the NTA TV College.

Native Cultural Association drew attention to the fact that youths of Nasarawa State extraction have not been carried along in the Politics of Jos South LGA, he urged that they be given opportunity and carried along.

Leader of Igbo Youths group in Jos South LGA hailed the PDP for selecting the Zawan Community Development Hall. He noted that there have been insinuations that the PDP was not carrying the people of Zawan along but said that the fact that the PDP chose Zawan for the Youths Town Hall meeting has cleared doubts. He called on participants to take the news back to their people. He urged the PDP to ensure the continuation of the town hall meeting every quarter if possible. He called on the people not to waste their votes by voting other parties but vote PDP.

Persons with disabilities called for opportunities for their members to showcase their God given talents and contribute to the the development of society.

While responding to the issues, Hon Hitler told Tricycle Riders Union that the reason they are being treated same as Jos North is because the Jos Metropolis comprises both Jos North & South LGAs respectively. He however assured them the Barrister Caleb Mutfwang will look critically into the situation with a view to review the operation time if security agencies guarantee that the situation is calm.

He reminded the women groups of the fact that the PDP had produced a Female Deputy (Dame Pauline Tallen) in 2007, and has now also picked a female Deputy (Ngo Josephine Piyo) in demonstration of the commitment of the PDP in carrying women along.

He assured YOWICAN, Non-Natives and persons with disabilities that Barrister Caleb Mutfwang being one that fears God will carry everyone along equally, especially in securing Plateau State for the benefit of all residents. He reminded persons with disabilities that the PDP administration in Plateau State was the first in Nigeria to introduce the Disability Rights Commission which has not been utilized properly by the current administration but assured that the commission will be made to perform optimally for the greater good.

Hon Hitler told students that as a former Students Union Leader, he will ensure that the current N5,000 bursary allowance is reviewed upwards to help ameliorate the plights of Students. He also assured that PLASU will be given due consideration with the view to creating more faculties for accreditation in order to bring more indigent students to pursue their dreams. He also assured them that security measures around campuses will be improved, especially perimeter fences which he said will be erected to cover up the exposed areas of the tertiary institutions.

The Atiku-Mutfwang Youth Campaign Council will be concluding their town hall engagements in Jos North on Wednesday 15th February 2023. The team has toured the 17 LGAs of Plateau State canvassing for support and votes for candidates of the PDP from the Presidential Candidate HE Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, to the Plateau State Standard bearer Barrister Caleb Mutfwang, as well as all National and State Assembly Candidates in the State.
