Army Commence 24/7 Patrol in Southern Kaduna

Following continuous attacks by suspected Fulani herdsmen, the Nigerian Army on Tuesday has confirmed the deployment of troops to Southern Kaduna to restore peace to the area.

Brig Gen Sani Usman, Spokesman of the Nigerian Army on Tuesday told newsmen that the troops had been fully deployed to Southern Kaduna to address the security challenge in that area.

Brig Gen Usman said army troops deployed to Southern Kaduna would be working with other agencies such as the Police and Department of State Services (DSS) as well as civilians to address the problem.

He added that a military formation would soon be established in the area while there were other military exercises going on in the north-west region such as Operation Shirin Harbi and Operation Harbin Kunama to address security challenges in the Bauchi and Zamfara axis.

He said that under the two exercises, 9,865 cattle rustled by bandits at Dansadau forest in Zamfara were rescued and handed over to their owners.

General Officer Commanding of the 1 Division, Maj Gen Adeniyi Oyebade, who appeared on a Nigerian television station, TV Continental, on Tuesday night, acknowledged the deployment of troops to Southern Kaduna, noting that 2 battalions of soldiers were now in the axis.
