Al-Shabaab attacks Police Stations in Kenya

A militant, suspected to be a member of Somalia’s militant group, Al-Shabaab, has shot and killed at least four police officers in a Kenyan police station, after snatching a weapon from a guard while he was being held in custody according to a report by Yahoo News.

The incident happened this morning at Kapenguria police station in a region near the Ugandan border.

According to the report, the suspect was said to have been detained on Wednesday for interrogation and during a routine roll call early this morning, grabbed the weapon from an officer and began shooting sporadically. An officer who has chosen to remain anonymous told Reuters that he can confirm that four police officers have been killed, adding that there could be more casualties.

Kenyan television channel KTN is however reporting that as many as six officers had died in the continuing stand-off, adding that police reinforcements had been deployed to the scene.

The policemen have surrounded the station and are trying to get to the suspect who has locked himself inside one of the rooms.

Terroist group Al Shabaab has launched a series of attacks against Kenya, stating that the attacks are aimed at driving Kenyan forces out of Somalia where they are part of an Africa force fighting al Shabaab.

In Lamu, An Al-Shabaab terrorist was killed while a police officer sustained minor injuries when about 20 gunmen attacked a security camp in Lamu County, All Africa is reporting.

Lamu East AP commander Abdullahi Adan, stated  the Al-Shabaab terrorists attacked Mangai RDU Camp in Basuba, Lamu East on Thursday at around 2am.

Mr Adan confirmed that an AK 47 riffle and three magazines full of ammunitions were seized from the terrorists as they fled after being overpowered by the police.

He said the militants who were armed with rocket propelled grenades tried to force their way into the camp with intention to bomb it.

He said they were also shooting randomly at the camp.
