Young Man Held in Kirikiri Prison for stealing a Bottle of Beer

25 year old tiler, Abdullah Idris was yesterday arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrate court for allegedly stealing a bottle of beer valued at N250.

According to DailyPost, the tiler who resides at number 24, Ogunbambi Street, Dopemu in Lagos State was charged with stealing, contrary to section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The Persecutor, Inspector Idowu Onime while testifying in court said that the accused committed the offence on January 23rd at 36, Adebisi Awosoga Street, Dopemu, Lagos.

The young man was said to have stolen the bottle of beer while it was being offloaded from a carton into a shop.

“It was someone who saw him drinking the beer that alerted one of the staff and he was apprehended,’’ according to Inspector Onime.

The accused pleaded guilty to the charge.

The Magistrate, Miss A. R. Onilogbo, however, ordered that the suspect be remanded in Kirikiri prison while adjourning the case till February 10th for sentencing.
