MTN Nigeria Seeks Out-of-Court Settlement with FG

wells fargo,mtn nigeria SEEK OUT-OF-COURT, MTN Agrees to Pay N1.04 trillion fineTelecommunications giants, MTN Nigeria are seeking for an out-of-court settlement in its case with the Federal Government against the fine slammed on the company by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).

After NCC’s initial fine of N1.04 trillion naira, the government agency reduced the fine to N780 billion while insisting that MTN pay up before December 31, 2015.

However, MTN went to court to contest the decision of the NCC.

Technological Times reports that Wole Olanipekun, SAN, who led a team of 10 other senior advocates as MTN’s legal council, informed the presiding judge, Mohammed Idris at the Federal High Court, Ikoyi in Lagos that MTN has chosen to settle out of court

Following the request by MTN, the presiding Judge adjourned the matter till March 18, 2016.
