2023: “Sorry For The Mess We Put You In” Former Plateau APC Chairman, Letep Apologize

The former Chairman of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC), Plateau State Chapter Hon. Letep Dabang on Thursday apologize to the people of Plateau State for being part of the APC government that has unleashed hardship on the people, making them hopeless.

Dabang, who is the Director-General (D.G), Mutfwang/Piyo Gubernatorial Campaign Council Plateau State made the assertion on the occasion of the PDP Plateau Northern Zone rally at Langsfield, Rayfield, Jos South Local Government Area.

He recalled with regrets that he was one of the apostles of propaganda and lies that saw Plateau enveloped in darkness on account of bad leadership by the APC led administration in the state.

Giving a rundown of some of the failed promises of the APC led administration, Dabang said,  “At the national level, we promised to construct dual carriage-way from Akwanga through Jos to Gombe but we failed. And you know that project would have been of great importance to Plateau State being the gateway to North-East of this country”.
At the state level, Dabang said they equally made series of promises to complete some of the construction works started by the previous government of Jonah David Jang in addition to new ones but that none of the promises was kept.

According to him, some of the projects include; road constructions from Jebbu-Bassa, with a spur to Zagun – Kishika down to Jengre and road construction from Bukuru to Mai juju down to Zandi as well as the one that was to commenced from Angware to Maza.

The former APC Chairman noted with dismay that despite the fact these projects have been steadily captured in the state budgets over the years, nothing is ongoing at the sites and as a result, the areas have since turned out to be source of asthma to members of these communities.

Speaking further, Dabang, who is popularly known as”Masquerade” said, “We also promised to buy back JIB and BARC Farm in order to have our youth gainfully employed but that also turned out to be another lies stressing that instead of reconstruction, JIB was vandalized.

Other promises by the APC that have not been fulfilled according to Dabang are the construction of 12 new roads across communities in Plateau Northern Zone and the N18billion British-America overhead bridge which he said is of no economic value. “Rather than building the overhead bridge, N3billion would have dualized the road from British-America junction and link to where the Baba Jang administration terminated the dualization by the Lamingo/Plateau Private School Roundabout while the balance of N15billion channeled to other road constructions”, he added.

Dabang revealed that another lie that was told the people of Plateau State by the APC Government was the purchased of 400 tractors. “To the best of my knowledge, I saw only 100 tractors when I was with them but I later learnt that the person who did the supply had issues with them and took the 100 tractors back.

“These and many others are promises we made but failed in fulfilling them leading the state to a terrible condition and subjected its citizens to a worse form of human degradation.

“Today, I am asking the people of Plateau for forgiveness because I am one of those who brought this calamity on you, please forgive me”, he said.

He further stated that never in the history of Nigeria have the citizens witnessed the kind of retrogression that has been witnessed in the last 7 and half years of the APC Government. He however believed that God has answered the prayers of the downtrodden by sending those who would liberate the country from the shackles of oppressors.

He described the Presidential and Gubernatorial candidates of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar and Barrister Calep Mutfwang respectively as true men of God with burning desire to salvage the people.

The DG Mutfwang/Piyo Gubernatorial Campaign Council equally appreciated the PDP for given him the opportunity to make things right with the people of Plateau and promised to give his best. Consequently, he called on the people Plateau to reject the APC vehemently by voting PDP candidates in all positions and elections from the Presidential down to Houses of Assembly.

There were goodwill messages from Sen. Jonah David Jang (The immediate past Governor of Plateau State), Sen.  I.D Gyang (Senator representing Plateau North Senatorial District in the National Assembly), Hon. Simon Mwadkom (PDP Plateau North Senatorial candidate & Currently member representing Riyom/Barkin Ladi Federal Constituency), Hon. Musa Bagos (Member representing Jos East/Jos South Federal Constituency).

Others are; Ambassador Bagudu Hirse (Former Nigerian Ambassador to Namibia), Ambassador Yahaya Kwande (Elder statesman), Hon. Vogam David (Representative of People Living With Disability), Hon. Esther Dusu (Member representing Jos North/West State Constituency in the Plateau State House of Assembly), Hon. Sarah Ochekpe (Former Minister of Water Resources & Member of the Federal Executive Council), Hajiya Jamila Gwandu and many others.

High point of the occasion was the presentation of the PDP flag to candidates for the 2023 general elections and the received to its fold,  21, 425, decampees from the ruling APC in Plateau North Senatorial District, which include former Minister of information and Communication, Hon. Dasuki Nakande and grassroot mobilizer,  Mrs. Jummai Musa, popularly known as “Mama APC”.

Hon. Dasuki Nakande spoke on behalf of the decampees. Represented by Alh Danladi Kwari, he said that they have returned home saying that it was those who decide political matters in Jos North that decamped to the PDP adding that with the current development, Jos North automatically becomes a PDP Local Government Area.

Receiving the decampees, the Chairman of the PDP, Plateau State Chapter, Hon. Chris Adukuchili Hassan commended them for taking the right decision at the right time and promised equal treatment to all members of the party irrespective of when such membership took effect.

The Governoship candidate, Barrister Calep Mutfwang in his submission, reminded party faithful on the need to be resilient saying that the journey was for the strong hearted. He however, expressed optimism that victory was certain.

The Gubernatorial candidate called on all eligible voters to ensure they collect their PVCs and strongly cautioned against surrendering same to anybody for whatever reason stressing that the PVC is the power of the electorates without which the desired change cannot be made.

He equally emphasize on the importance of voting PDP candidates in all the elections.
