Two Killed as Ebonyi State Police Foil Robbery Attack
The Ebonyi State Police comand has foiled a robbery incident which took place at a phone shop in Abakaliki around 7pm yesterday, killing two of the robbery suspects.
The state’s Police Public Realtions Officer, ASP George Okafor confirmed the incident which according to him was brought to their attention via a distress call.
“The command received a distress call that the robbers were robbing the popular phone shop, C-Net, and we quickly dispatched our men to intercept the robbers.”
One of the officers was engaged by one of the robbers on arrival at the scene of the crime stabbing the officer multiple times and even attempting to dispossess him of his rifle, but the men of the Force who came fully prepared, took charge of the situation. “But our men were up to the task and responded, leading to the shooting of the assailant and one of his colleagues,” he said.
The police spokesperson said guns and ammunition were recovered from the suspects and no staff of the phone company was hurt during the operation.He also encouraged the public to continue providing the police with credible information that will help in checkmating crimes in the state.
While the injured police officer is receiving treatment at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki, FETHA, the two robbers who were shot died on the way to the hospital.
