Top Five Mixtapes from Jos Yesterday, with the attention TitoBrown’s #USS Mixtape, Urban Stereo Sounds was getting especially on Twitter, there was a discussion and some lists of the greatest mixtapes out ofJos, arguably Nigeria’s Hiphop capital was made.

Jos boasts of having influenced most of Nigeria’s hiphop acts in the entertainment scene. In recent years, the city of Jos has seen act like YoungBlack (Jasper of Cool fm) Al’Chaddas, Kunem, Jowhiz (Danladi), Marquiz, Yung, Verbz, Suranu and more drop mixtapes which has garnered buzz.

Here is our top 5 Mixtapes out of the city of Jos in no particular order. You can drop your top five mixtaoes from Jos in the comment section too.

Verbz – Don’t Try this at Home

The mixtape had a witty blend to it with tracks like S.T.F.U, Heisman and Mouth fulla Gold with producers like Chopstix, Charlie X, Sizzle Pro and Beats by Butta  on it. M.I Abaga went on to list Verbz as one of the budding rappers in Nigeria.

Suranu Welcome to my Thoughts

Although his Second mixtape Life and Times of Erwing EJango got more buzz, I still have a couple of Songs from his Welcome to my Thoughts mixtape. Talented, a Tongolo cover featuring Terry tha Rapman (T.R) is still one of my best Suranu jams. Touch It, a Kanye Cover featuring Verbz got more airplay than the original song in Jos .

Yung – YMYN (YUNG MUSIC YUNG NATION)

Yung’s mixtape was just too versatile… Loose my Mind, Victory Dance and One Time are tracks I still bump to. This is what someone I sent the album said… I heard a lot of Nigerian rappers in my day; Yung is easily moon walking into my top 5….  The Mixtape is the best I’ve heard since that first J.Cole album and uhmmmm see I’m going to keep ranting.

Retji – L.O.U.D

A whole lot of you slept on this Tape and I blame the act for not doing much in pushing it although it got featured on major blogs The tape Living out Ur Dreams by Retji and producer Maytricks was laced up without the producer and artist sitting in the studio but over a series of mails.

Kahli Abdu – The Ministry of Corruption

kahli_abdu_mocKahli Abdu’s Ministry of Corruption can be ranked amongst the top mixtapes ever out of the Country. The tape hugely inspired by Fela  has VIP, call it a complete package song that tells you, Kahli is not playing with his music. The tape featured appearances from Endia, Yung El, J-Milla (all from the GRIP Boiz), Bezalel, Guru, Eve Urrah, Geniuz and Chopsticks.
