Super Eagles hit Highest FIFA Ranking as they go on Rampage against Togo

Nigeria’s Super Eagles have climbed two places on the latest Fifa Ranking released on Thursday to 38th position.

Nigeria’s jump comes after the three-time African champions played a 1-1 draw with Corsica national team last week in one of two friendlies ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers beginning in June.

This is the highest Fifa ranking for the Eagles in over two years as they hit their stride under German coach, Gernot Rohr.

The new ranking of the Super Eagles place the team fourth on the continent behind Afcon 2017 silver medalists Egypt, Senegal and reigning African champions Cameroon.

Congo DR, Tunisia, Burkina Faso Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana and Algeria complete the top 10 on the continent.

The Eagles are already in action leading Togo 3 unreplied goals in their second friendly match against Togo’s Sparrow Hawks at the Stade Municipal in France.

the game is meant for Eagles coach Rohr to fine-tune the relatively new side before the visit of South Africa in an Afcon qualifier June 10.

Brazil maintain their hold on top spot having displaced eternal rivals, Argentina in March, with World Champions, Germany, Copa America holders, Chile, and Colombia rounding up the top five.
