The former France and Madrid midfielder guided the club to Champions League success after taking over as coach at the Bernabeu only 12 months ago.

Real, who has a three-point lead ahead of Barcelona at the top of LaLiga with a game in hand, return to action after their winter break as they host Sevilla in the Copa del Rey this evening.

Sevilla, who ended 2016 third in the table, were beaten by Real in the European Super Cup in August, but coach Jorge Sampaoli insists that will have no bearing on this last-16 tie.
