mayowa1-e1469709839248Fresh reports suggest the #SaveMayowa campaign which Toyin Aimakhu massively campaigned for and helped raise funds for her treatment of sick Mayowa has been confirmed to be a scam by the family of the sick woman.

Nolllywood actress, Toyin Aimakhu drew nationwide sympathy for the Nigerian woman, Ahmed Mayowa Shukurat, who was reportedly diagnosed with Stage IV Ovarian cancer.

with Aimakhu’s  help, Mayowa’s story was massively shared on social media by concerned friends who reported that she needed N32 million for a surgery abroad. With Aimaku’s voice, donated over N8 million in over 24 hours, and today had exceeded the needed $100,000.

Now, according to Linda Ikeji’s Blog, the whole campaign was a scam. She reports:

“This is such a sad thing for me to report this afternoon. Just two days after we were all happy that Nigerians kindly donated to cancer patient, Mayowa Ahmed, for surgery she needed for ovarian cancer, LIB just learnt that Mayowa and her family scammed kind hearted Nigerians.

You see, Mayowa is really sick. She truly has Ovarian cancer. She’s admitted at LUTH but she didn’t need money for surgery, because doctors had told Mayowa she was beyond treatment and no hospital in the world could treat her as she was extremely far gone. Mayowa had reached stage 4 and doctors, unfortunately, already told her family she won’t survive it and had advised them to take her home. Her family instead used her situation to raise money from Nigerians. The doctors in LUTH have also denied giving her family a medical report advising her to seek treatment abroad.”

A report from LIB says that Toyin Aimakhu has stormed the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) with police officers to arrest those who connived to defraud and deceive Nigerians.:

“Toyin Aimakhu, who was one of those who spearheaded the fundraising, as you read this, is at LUTH right now with police officers. Some people also went to the family’s home and the place is locked up. Will share video from the scene  at LUTH, involving Toyin and one other donor later…

#SaveMayowa raised over $100k on GoFundMe and millions of Naira.

Also, Daddy Freeze reports that Aramide Kasumu of Life Stake Foundation wrote a letter to him, confirming that the whole campaign was a scam. You can follow the story here.

Aimakhu is yet to surface on social media to confirm or refute the raging claims of scam. We will return with more details.
