Police after woman who sells unborn Child for N100000

FESTAC Police Division in the Lagos State Command have launched a manhunt for a woman identified as Amaka Ogua, who allegedly sold her younger sister’s unborn child for N100,000 in Mile 2, Lagos.

Amaka had already collected N50,000 from a client for the unborn baby and planned to collect the balance of N50,000 when her 31-year-old sister identified as Nkechi gave birth according to the Punch Newspaper.

Unfortunately, the bubble burst when her plans were discovered by the police. The police is said to have received a tip-off from a non-governmental organisation – Child Protection Network(CPN) – last month, sending officers to rescue the pregnant woman from her apartment on the same day. However, they didn’t meet the suspect at home.

“We did not meet Nkechi’s sister at home when we went to her house at the Ojo Military Cantonment to rescue her. She would have been arrested immediately” a police officer stated.

The victim told the police that she had mental challenges some years ago, and although she suffered memory loss, she claimed she could remember her sister brought a man to impregnate her in the house. She also revealed that she gave birth to a baby two years ago, but her sister had taken the child to an unknown person.

Furthermore, the victim added that she was not in support of the sale of her baby, but her sister had already collected money from a man. The police believe the suspect has been running a baby factory and are investigating child trafficking as well. The matter has since been reported at the Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation in Ikeja, who have taken custody of Nkechi.

SP Dolapo Badmos, confirmed the incident, adding that operatives from the FESTAC division are still investigating the matter.
