Patoranking showed the world how he can be loyal to his fans to a whole new level when he performed in a wheelchair yesterday.

The reggae act said the performance was meant to show support for all disabled persons.

“This Performance was dedicated to every disabled person out there,” the reggae-dancehall singer said, adding, “Don’t let what you are going through weigh you down. I represent you. God Over Everything.”

Pop star Lady Gaga suffered a major backlash in 2011 when she came on stage in Australia in a wheelchair. For many of her critics, especially disability organisations and advocacy groups, it was simply insensitive for the able-bodied singer to perform as a disabled person, an act they called exploitative.

The unprecedented act from Patoranking drew reactions from many of his fans. “I’m disabled,” one of his fans wrote, adding “you are giving me the believe that I can do it thanks @patorankingfire” Another added,

“No offence @patorankingfire … I appreciate the love for those with disability, but you can’t represent what you are not.”
