The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Eniitan Ogunwusi created a panic scene at the Smithsonian Museum of African Art, and it was thanks to the traditional rites being held in his honour which was mistaken for a fire outbreak.

The Ooni of Ife who is on a tour of the USA, has had different ceremonies performed in his honour at every city he visited and yesterday was no different. Though no accidents occurred at this ceremony of the thunder god, Sango, the fire alerted fire fighters to the venue.

According to Trendy Africa Magazine reports that a dozen fire marshals rushed to the scene with three fire trucks, only to discover that it was a traditional Sango performance. Eyewitnesses add that the officials finally left after being briefed.
