The Nigerian Army is has issued out a claim that it has injured Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau ‘fatally’ in an air strike conducted by the Nigerian Air Force yesterday.

The army’s claim, contained in a tweet posted by the official army twitter account, is yet to be independently verified.

This is not the first time the Nigerian Army has claimed to have killed, captured, or wounded the erratic Boko Haram leader, who has led a bloody insurgency in Nigeria’s north east.

The reports of Shekau’s ‘injuries’ follows reports of the killing of over 300 Boko Haram fighters by the Nigerian army during operations to clear out the terrorists yesterday.
