NDLEA Destroy over 100 Hectares of Marijuana Farm

National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA),Delta State Command has revealed  that they have destroyed a cannabis/ marijuana  farm measuring over 100 hectares in Ndokwa West Local Government Area of the state.

The disclosure was made by the Delta State Commander of NDLEA, Mr. Dennis Chidi Obiefule during a lecture to mark this year’s United Nations International Day Against Drug Abuse which held at the Urhobo Cultural Centre in Warri  according to  a report by PUNCH.

Obiefule stressed that the agency was not relenting in its efforts to fight drug abuse across the state, adding that traffickers were more concerned with profit than the effect of their illicit business.

“Since the early ‘90s, Nigeria has experienced an up scourge in drug trafficking and abuse. Those involved are only interested in the proceeds from the illicit business.”

He  also urged parents to be more proactive in monitoring their children from turning into drug addicts, adding that the high level of drug use among youths has become worrisome.

The commander confirmed the bust saying, “As regards prosecution, 31 convictions were recorded while 17 dealers were cancelled in the year in review. Our men have also discovered a cannabis farm in Ndokwa West, covering over 100 hectares of land which was destroyed.”
