Mtv Picks Trevor Noah for MAMAs 2016

Mtv Base has announced South African comedy legend and host of Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show” Trevor Noah to host the sixth edition of the MTV Africa Music Awards Johannesburg 2016 (MAMA), Africa’s most prestigious music awards ceremony.

The 31 year old will host the show which has seen the likes of Wyclef Jean, Eve, Marlon Wayans, Anthony Anderson and now Trevor Nelson.

Trevor Noah who has put African comedy on the world map will be presiding over the live 2-hour telecast at the Ticketpro Dome, Johannesburg on 22 October 2016.

The event will feature performances from stand-out African stars like Alikiba, Babes Woduma, Cassper Nyovest, Nasty C,Ycee and Yemi Alade, MAMA 2016 will also stream online on MTV Base. Other performers will be announced soon.

The MTV Africa Music Awards Johannesburg 2016 will be broadcasted live on MTV Base (DStv Channel 322) and MTV (DStv Channel 130) on Saturday 22 October at 21:00CAT.

The show will also be transmitted worldwide on partner stations and content platforms from October onwards, whileMTV channels around the world will broadcast a one-hourMAMA-themed MTV World Stage.
