MTV EMA withdraws Best African Act off Wizkid, choose rival Alikiba
The messy feud between Wizkid and Alikiba, his Tanzanian counterpart has been reignited by
the MTV after Music channel stripped Wizkid off an award they announced him as the winner.
Days ago, the Europe chapter of the American cable and satellite television channel MTV at the EMA Awards
awarded the ‘One Dance’ singer the Best African Act at the 2016 MTV EMAs.

Not long after, upset Tanzanians trooped to social media in protest, alleging that their artiste got
more votes and thus deserves the honour…
Nigerians fired back, a social media feud ensued, with both sides exalting their star higher than the other. But MTV has responded by stripping Wizkid of the honour and rewarding Alikiba with the award.
“Both Ali Kiba and Wizkid are great artists and deserving to win at MTV EMA and we
congratulate the wholeheartedly” MTV EMA said in its letter. “We apologize for any
confusion but we are pleased to recognize achievements of both these artists on this
global platform.”

Celebrating the new feat, Alikiba posted this in Swahili on his Instagram (as translated
