Man Kills his Wife, Pastor’s Wife and Others with Pestle
In Sokoto, the State’s Police Command on Sunday reports that a man, Taiwo Adio, allegedly used a pestle to kill his 43-year-old wife Yemisi Adio over the weekend.
In a statement signed by the Spokesman of the command, El-mustapha Sani, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Sokoto, the Police revealed the atrocity.
According to Sani, the gruesome incident took place on Saturday at the old Airport Area of Sokoto city, the capital of the northwest state.
The police spokesman added that Taiwo, in his uncontrollable murderous rage, had used the same pestle with which he killed his wife, to kill three other persons in the area.
The other victims have been identified as: Rachael Adewole, 42, Dennis Adewole,10, and Esther Badelu, 14, all of the same address.
Until her death, Rachael, was the wife of Pastor Jacob Adewole, of Faith Baptist Church (Sanctuary of Mercy and Glory), Old Airport Road, Sokoto. Ten-year old Benice Adewole was their only daughter while Esther Badelu, was Benice’s friend.
The statement further said that the pestle had been recovered as an exhibit, while the case was being investigated by the command’s Criminal Investigation Department.
No reason has been given for the bloodlust in the usually serene city.
”All the corpses had been deposited at the morgue of the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital, Sokoto, for post mortem,” he said.
