Man Beats wife to Death in Ekiti

CplYwqfUkAACkPsIn Ekiti, Josiah Johnson, a 42 year old man has been remanded in prison custody by an Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ court over his allegedly beat his wife Julianah Johnson to death for denying him sex.

The Punch reports that the sad incident happened on July 3 at their residence in Erio-Ekiti in Ekiti West Local Government Area of Ekiti State.

Speaking in court, the prosecutor, Sgt. Oriyomi Akinwale, said Johnson wanted sex but his wife refused on grounds that she didn’t want to get pregnant and for refusing his demands, Johnson beat her into submission and proceeded to rape her.

Juliannah, the mother of his seven children, died afterwards.

Oriyomi stated that this crime contravened Section 319(1) of the Criminal Code, Cap C 16, Laws of Ekiti State. 2012.

Also, the prosecutor sought for an adjournment because he needed the legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Johnson’s counsel, Tunde Falade did not object to this request, so the Magistrate Taiwo Ajibade remanded the accused in prison custody.
