J. Cole’s Album ‘KOD’ Goes Platinum (With No Features) Once Again

Rapper J. Cole latest album, KOD, has officially reached platinum status with no features and this is the second time in his career the North Carolina MC’s album has gone platinum with zero features.

The album, which was released in April 2018, was certified for one million in U.S. sales by the Recording Industry Association of America on Dec. 5. The album was initially certified gold on May 14.

The project was lauded for Cole’s lyricism and addressing topical issues such as drug addiction and the state of today’s hip-hop culture.

KOD also broke streaming records on both Spotify and Apple Music with over one billion streams combined.

The news of Cole’s album certification comes amid rumors the “Power Trip” rapper is working on a new album.

At the start of this month, Cole’s alter ego kiLL Edward tweeted (yes, his alter ego has a Twitter account) that an album was on the way.

“my album coming don’t think i forgot,” he — who is assumedly J. Cole/kiLL Edward — wrote.

J. Cole has been teasing fans with new music for months. Just after J dropped KOD he blessed the world with a new track while also hinting at his next project.
