HRH Dr Selky Kile Torughedi celebrates Tompolo over Doctorate from NMU

The Amananawei of Azuzuama, Southern Ijaw LGA of Bayelsa State, His Royal Highness Dr Selky Kile Torughedi has congratulated the Principal Office of the Movement for the Emancipation of Niger-Delta Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo (aka Tompolo) over the confirment of an Ordinary Doctorate Degree on Tompolo by the Nigerian Maritime University (NMU) in Delta State during the institution’s first convocation ceremony.

In a statement issued by the Bayelsa Monarch in Yenagoa the Bayelsa State Capital on Saturday 25th November 2023, he eulogized Tompolo’s leadership style which according to him has not failed the Niger Delta struggle, adding that the development was coming shortly before the celebration of the anniversary of the ‘Kiama Declaration’ which comes up on the 11th of December 2023.

HRH Dr Selky who was over joyed by the development used opportunity to call on Niger Delta youths to support this exemplary leadership style exhibited by Tompolo for better guidance and development of the Niger-Delta region. He stressed that the time of using arms in the struggle for emancipation has passed, pointing out that the youths should go back to school and acquire an education in order to facilitate meaningful dialogue which is the most profitable option to today’s realities for the betterment of the region.

Tompolo was conferred with a Honorary Doctorate Degree by the Nigerian Maritime University along side the first Military Governor of the Old Rivers State, His Majesty Amayanabo (King) of Twon-Brass, Bayelsa State, whom HRH Dr Selky Kile Torughedi equally eulogized for his contributions towards the peace and prosperity of the Niger-Delta region.
