Some hoodlums have destroyed the foundation laying structure of the new military base in the troubled Southern Kaduna.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen Tukur Buratai, and Governor Nasir Ahmed El-Rufai had penultimate Saturday laid the foundation for the establishment of the battalion at Ungwan Yashi area of Zangon Kataf Local Government Area in response to the growing state of insecurity in the region.

But it appears those responsible for the needless loss of lives in the state have no limits, following the attack on the proposed military battalion.

Governor El-Rufai has expressed shock at the attack of the new military base, saying the “conflict entrepreneurs are determined to continue to create obstacles and setback to our stabilization and peace building efforts,” PT writes.

The situation is unfortunate, condemnable and a setback to the government’s communal stabilization and peace building efforts, but we will not be deterred,” the statement, signed by his Special Assistant on Media, Samuel Aruwan, read.

I want to use this medium to appeal to all men and women of conscience to remain firm and optimistic, while government in collaboration with security agencies, civil society, religious and traditional institutions will continue to work assiduously for peace and security of life and property.”

GOvernor El-Rufai has been under fire for his perceived inaction in the face of the raging crisis engulfing Southern Kaduna. He stated that security agencies will fish out the perpetrators and ensure they are brought to book.
