Big Spenders Manchester City reached the Champions League semifinals for the first time after a 1-0 win over Paris St Germain at their Etihad ground.

City, missed a first-half penalty played by Sergio Aguero after he was brought down by Kevin Trapp in PSG goal but managed to seal a 3-2 aggregate victory with Kevin de Bruyne’s superb curling shot from the edge of the area on 76 minutes.

City manager Manuel Pellegrini hopes to depart the club with European glory, and now hopes to go one better than 10 years ago when he last reached the last four with Villarreal.

“This is a great achievement for the club, we played as a big, mature team and we deserved it,” the 62-year-old Chilean told reporters.

“We were very unlucky to be drawn against Barcelona in the last 16 in the last two seasons, but now we have proved we deserve to be one of the best four teams in Europe.”
