Gunmen raid Enugu Metropolis, Kill motorist
Nine suspected robbers broke mayhem yesterday in Enugu metropolis following a gun battle as the robbers raided New Market, Edinburgh and Independence Layout axis, snatching about three cars in the process.
Vanguard reports that an eyewitness said the gunmen came in two vehicles: a Toyota Sienna and Camry 2002 model, while other reports claim the gunmen had earlier collected a Camry Spider model from the owner at gunpoint before proceeding to riddle the body of their victim with bullets.
“They just came and were seen raising two fingers in the air, while proceeding to attack their victim,” an eyewitness said.
“I have never seen that kind of confidence on the part of armed men. It was a scary experience for me.”
Another eyewitness, who chose to be identified simply as Mark, said: “They shot him the first time and he fell inside a nearby gutter. They then proceeded to where he was and continued to shoot at different parts of his body to make sure that he was dead. “Thereafter, they started shooting sporadically in the air to disperse the crowd.”
The Enugu State Police Command is yet to come up with a detailed explanation of the bizarre scene that shook the city.
