Fanatics Behead Elderly woman in Kano Market

What happened in 1995 happened all over again in Kofar Wambai market in Kano after a mob descended on an elderly woman yesterday, and slaughtered her.

The elderly woman’s only crime was that she allegedly committed blasphemy.

Reports from Newspaper Vanguard say the tragic scene happened yesterday evening at the very popular textile market. Eyewitnesses told Vanguard that the slaughter caused tension as panicked business people quickly closed shops and ran from the scene.

Details of the victim is not yet known, and it is unclear if the authorities apprehended the perpetrators.

This brings to mind the similar incident of 1995, when Islamic fundamentalists attacked Gideon Akaluka in a police jail and beheaded him following claims that his wife used pages of the Koran to wipe her baby’s butt.
