EFCC raids Yola Government House for Chief of Staff
AbdurRahman Abba Jimeta, Chief of Staff to Muhammadu Jibrilla, Adamawa state governor has reportedly been arrested by agents of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over an alleged scam.
The aide, is said to be involved in a scam totaling up to over N2.88 billion slated for the renovation of Yola International hotel which was awarded by the previous administration of Murtala Nyako under whom he was also Chief of Staff.
According to Vanguard Newspaper, the total amount for the project was upwardly reviewed about 3 times while the payment was divided into 9 installments where the government made N2.664 billion total payment and left a balance of N204 million.
A government source told the news outlet that “When Jibrilla’s administration came on board, the contract was again reviewed upward, under the supervision of ministry of culture and tourism.”
Meanwhile, a close source to Jimeta has rubbished reports that he was arrested in relation to the Yola International Hotel scam.
He said: “He was only invited over a plot of land that he bought from Jafaru Malik, they took him to Gombe to show proof of ownership, I wonder how people peddle rumour.”
