Mr Mohammed Umar Abba in a letter on behalf of the EFCC acting chairman, Mr Ibrahim Magu, urged the former aviation minister to be present at its Abuja office by 10am on Monday but the authorities swooped in on the former Aviations minister.

The EFCC in its letter stated that it is investigating a case of criminal conspiracy and money laundering involving a company linked to Mr Fani-Kayode.

The company is believed to have been involved in diversion of campaign funds belonging to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Vanguard reports that Fani-Kayode, in a letter through his lawyer, has assured the anti-graft agency that he would duly honour the invitation.

Prior to this time, the former minister who last year had charges previously filed against him by the EFCC thrown out by the court, repeatedly claimed that he was not hiding from the EFCC and was not afraid of being invited by the agency.

The embattled former Presidential campaign spokesman took to Facebook Friday afternoon, lamenting that the EFCC had already surrounded his house despite only just sending him an invitation letter in the morning. He later posteed that they have left on Twitter.

“Today the EFCC invited me to to come their office on monday. I have their letter. I agreed to be there. Now they have surrounded my house.

“The letter of invitation was served this morning and it was dated 6th May. They said I should report on the 9th.

“Can someone pl tell me why they are at my gate? They can’t even wait because they want to detain me so badly and keep me away for the weekend.

“I never refused their invitation. Why all this? I leave them to God,” he said.
