Helio Vieira, a soldier guarding the Olympic Games in Rio, Brazil was a casualty of the Drug war as he was shot dead and his colleagues wounded after they rode past the wrong neighbourhood, Vila do Joao favela- a drug lord-controlled slum in the city.

The Daily Mail reports that the gangsters opened fire on a marked pickup van by mistake. Vieira who also works for the Forca Nacional, was shot in the head and died at a nearby Salgado Filho hospital, while at least three of his colleagues sustained injuries.

Reports add that the soldiers, possibly, were not familiar with that part of the city and had ridden into it by mistake while trying to turn around the main expressway into Rio.
