Katsuya Takasu,The $390,000 largesse donation made by Japanese Plastic Surgeon to the Nigeria U23 Olympic team, the Dream Team VI is yet to be split amongst players of the team as promised by the captain John Obi Mikel.

According to a report by Vanguard, the delay in sharing the funds is as a result of issues beyond the control of the Super Eagles captain.

Katsuya Takasu had given the sum of $390,000 to players and coaching staff of Nigeria’s bronze medal winning Olympic team as a token for their inspirational performance at the Games in light of the travails they encountered.

One month on, some players of the team who spoke on the condition of anonymity said, the cheque presented by the donor Dr. Takasu is yet to be cleared by Mikel.

“Skippo (Mikel) is yet to clear the cheque, hence we are yet to receive alert but it’s fine although we are anxious to hear from him” a player of the team said.

A member of the Technical crew also disclosed that they too were yet to hear from coach Samson Siasia, who was also given the sum of $200,000 to share among his crew. The whole team is said to have split the money into equal parts with everyone walking home with $14,000.
