Diezani Dropped by Chevening from Its List

The travails of The former Minister of Petroleum Resources continues following her arrest by the UK’s National Crime Agency on allegation of bribery and corruption offences.

Chevening Scholarship has removed her name from its list of female achievers.

Diezani Alison-Madueke had received a Chevening scholarship in 2002, after which she attended Cambridge University for her MBA.

Chevening is an international scholarship scheme which helps students with leadership qualities from 144 countries to go for postgraduate study in UK universities.

Diezani got on the list due to her feat as the first woman to hold the position of Minister of Petroleum as well as the first female President of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries- Chevening listed her on its website, as one of its best female alumni on March 8- International Women’s Day.

However, as a result of her arrest and corruption scandal and series of allegations made against her- Chevening has tossed out her name from its website, while the names of the other celebrated women, remain there.
